New poultry complex in Caaguazú to receive birds by 2027

Investment in the Paraguayan poultry sector

The poultry breeding complex of Grupo Pluma is advancing with construction works to develop its industry in the Yhú district, in the department of Caaguazú, with the forecast of receiving the first birds in April 2027. The information was released by the president of the Serviço Nacional de Calidad y Salud Animal (Senacsa), José Carlos Martin, as originally published by the newspaper ABC Color.

The initiative includes an announced investment of US$ 50 million and seeks to develop infrastructure for different stages of the poultry chain, from the rearing of breeding birds to the incubation of hatching eggs. The project covers a total surface area of 500 hectares, a projected capacity of about six million fertile eggs per month, and the creation of 180 direct jobs.

According to Senacsa, Paraguay currently imports hatching eggs and day-old chicks, mainly from Brazil and Argentina, to supply the national poultry industry. With the operation of the new complex, the official expectation is that the country will achieve local production close to 90% of these inputs, reducing external dependence and strengthening the internal productive chain, maintaining only the import of certain specific genetic segments.
